meet the artist
Kammie is in Ms. Dean's challenge classroom at Stevens Elementary. She is 7 years old and has multiple disabilities.

Her hero is her big sister Kelsey. Kammie's mom is a photographer so she adapted a camera so Kammie could take photographs. The camera is a plastic Lomo Super Sampler. It has no view finder which fits with Kammie's abilities because she wouldn't look through one anyway. A piece of cork was attached to the small shutter button with industrial Velcro. Then we "practiced" taking pictures by modeling hand over hand hitting the cork. Kammies mom attached the camera to her walker with a clip and more Velcro.

As you can see Kammie really figured out how to be a photographer! Her mom still had to pull the cord to advance the film as that was something Kammie did not understand with hand over hand modeling.
